MYSURU: Chamarajanagar district administration is making all preparations to launch Village One centres across the district with an aim to bring all government services under one roof. The implementation of the scheme will help villagers avail government services at their doorstep without visiting government offices.
The launch of the Village One centres will be a boon to villagers of the backward border district where they struggle for transportation and other basic facilities. The district administration has also started providing training to selected unemployed youths to manage these centres.
Villagers, who have been visiting government offices at their taluk and district after travelling several kilometres to get their work done, can now avail government services such as obtaining caste, income, birth and death certificates, pension applications at their doorstep through Village One centres.
Chamarajanagar district administration will set up these centres in all 130 GPs with the support of Seva Sindhu Project online service. The latter will provide space, install computers, scanners, printers, biometric thumb impression collecting machine, ensure power and internet facility to facilitate operations of the centres in all five taluks of the district.
Chamarajanagar Seva Sindhu district project director Nanjundaswamy told TOI that in the initial phase, Village One centres will help public avail more than 35 government services at their doorstep.
Applications being received
As both district administration and Zilla Panchayat have given permission to offer the services in the centres, Seva Sindhu platform has already started to receive the applications on services related to revenue, agriculture, horticulture and other departments, he said. “It will be extended in all GPs once the training is completed for operators,” he added.
Operators, who receive applications forms at these centres, will forward e-applications to the departments concerned for further processing. The applicant gets messages during every stage of the process of his application on his registered mobile number. Once the work is done, the applicants can collect the certificates or related documents at the Village One centre after 7-15 days. The centre will be open to the public from 9am to 6pm during working days, he said.
Speaking to TOI, additional deputy commissioner Katyinidevi said that deputy commissioner Charulatha Somal has permitted the Seva Sindhu platform to provide services to the public through the Village One centres. “The DC also inaugurated the training for the operators. Instructions have been given to operators to provide hassle-free service to the public without making them move from pillar to post. Directions have also been given to them to display the list of services and the charges in every centre. The programme not only aims at removing the role of middlemen, but also ends corruption, saves money and time,” she said.
