Karnataka: Rain peters out across coast

MANGALURU / UDUPI: Rains petered out in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi on Tuesday.

There was plenty of sunshine from morning till evening. There were one or two occasional moderate showers lasting five to ten minutes in the day.

According to KSNDMC, Golihole in Kundapur taluk of Udupi district received 180mm rainfall in the state.

A bulletin issued by IMD at 1pm on Tuesday said that very heavy rainfall (in cm) was recorded at Castle Rock (Uttara Kannada) 17 ; Subramanya (Dakshina Kannada 13; Siddapura (Udupi), 12 and heavy rainfall (in cm) was recorded at Gerusoppa (Uttara Kannada) 11; Siddapur (Uttara Kannada) , Kollur (Udupi) , 9; Gokarna, Manki (both Uttara Kannada) , Udupi, Belthangady (Dakshina Kannada) , Karkala (Udupi) , 8 each; Sullia (Dakshina Kannada), Kumta, Shirali, Kadra, Janmane, Manchikere (all Uttara Kannada) , seven each.

All taluks of Dakshina Kannada received higher than average rainfall. Dakshina Kannada received an average rainfall of 62mm, Udupi 69mm and Uttara Kannada district received 62mm rainfall in the last 24 hours.
