DHARWAD: Umadevi, wife of slain Kannada scholar MM Kalburgi, identified Ganesh Miskin, an accused in the case, during trial at the fourth additional judge court here on Friday.
The prosecution had produced all the six accused in the court and all of them were wearing white shirt, blue trousers and red mask. The public prosecutor asked Umadevi, who is one of the main witnesses, if she could identify the person who shot at Kalburgi.
Umadevi identified Ganesh Miskin and explained what she saw on the morning of August 30, 2015, the day professor Kalburgi was shot dead at his residence in Kalyan Nagar of Dharwad.
The prosecution had produced Amol Kale, Praveen Chatur, Ganesh Miskin, Amit Baddi, Vasudev Suryavanshi and Sharat Kalaskar in court. Judge Maheshwari Panchakshari adjourned the hearing to May 10.
Probe into the case had been handed over to CID. After the murder of writer-journalist Gauri Lankesh, an SIT was formed and Kalburgi's murder case was also handed over to the SIT.
Investigation and arrests in the Gauri case indicated that a few accused persons were also involved in Kalburgi's murder.
