Karnataka MLC polls: CM Basavaraj Bommai accuses Congress of using money power

BENGALURU: Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday alleged that the Congress is using its money power to win the December 10 MLC polls from local bodies.

Addressing the "Vijaya Sankalpa" convention organised by BJP in Anekal near Bengaluru, Bommai said Congress had fielded moneybags as its candidates, who have "paid" to the party fund.

"Fall of moral standards in Congress is very clear. People should show Congress its place as the party is trying to win the election through immoral splurge of money," he said.

Retaliating against leader of opposition Siddaramaiah, who had alleged that BJP was using money and muscle power to win elections, Bommai said: "What moral right Siddaramaiah has to talk about it when his party has fielded the money bags as its candidates? He did not do anything to help Gram Panchayats when in power. His promise to distribute one lakh houses has remained a promise.”

He said the BJP government has taken steps to build one lakh homes in urban areas and 4 lakh homes in rural areas. They would be completed in one and half years.

He said comprehensive development of Bengaluru is possible only if the adjoining Gram Panchayat areas are well developed.

"Many entrepreneurs are showing keen interest to invest in Anekal. Our government will prepare an exclusive 'Anekal Vision' document for the comprehensive development of Anekal on the lines of Bengaluru Vision," Bommai added.
