SHIVAMOGGA: The Shivamogga District Congress Committee on Wednesday welcomed former MLA and Madhu Bangarappa to the party office after he joined Congress in Hubballi last week.
Madhu, who is the son of late former CM S Bangarappa, said many district-level BJP and JD(S) leaders will also join Congress later.
Madhu said, “Congress will come to power and people will give an answer to the BJP government. Together with all Congress leaders including senior leader Kagodu Thimmappa, we will strengthen the party in the district. Congress is the only political party that can save the poor,” he said.
“My father late S Bangarappa introduced numerous schemes and benefits to the farming community. The current BJP government is trying to scrap popular programmes. The BJP government introducing pre-paid meters for borewells. I will fight against this cruelty on farmers. Many BJP and JD(S) leaders will join Congress,” he said.
