BENGALURU: Vaccination certificates are not mandatory for students appearing for II PU exams but other Covid-19 protocols have to be adhered to, the department of PU education said on Thursday. The exams begin on Friday and will be on till May 18.
The II PU exams are in the spotlight as the government has reiterated that religious garments will not be allowed inside exam halls.
Covid-positive students will be allowed to sit for papers in a separate room. But so far, no student has informed the PUE department about testing positive. The technical advisory committee had recommended that as Covid cases are low, there will be no separate Covid care centres for students to sit for the exams.
More than 6.8 lakh students from 5,241 colleges in the state have registered for II PU exams. Of these, over 6 lakh are freshers, 61,808 repeaters, and 21,928 are private candidates. About 2.3 lakh students have registered for arts stream, 2.5 lakh for commerce, and 2.1 lakh for science, while 2,212 specially abled children will take the exam. Special arrangements have been put in place for them.
Section 144 has been imposed on a 200m radius around exam centres. Logic and business studies papers will be held on Day 1.
