BENGALURU: More than 15 months since it held the mains exam to fill 106 posts, Karnataka Administrative Service (KAS) gazetted probationers, the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) is yet to declare the results, leaving hundreds of aspirants’ in the lurch.
BJP legislator and former education and Sakala minister S Suresh Kumar has written to the chief secretary pointing out the delay. Kumar has said he will go to the KPSC office at 10am on Monday and seek answers to questions being raised by people.
In January 2020, KPSC published notification for Group A and B posts and the preliminary exams were conducted on August 24, 2020. The mains were held in February 2021. Of the more than 1. 6 lakh who appeared for the preliminary exam, 2,200 qualified and took the mains, Kumar’s letter reads.
In the past 10 years, KPSC has conducted exams only four times — in 2012, 2015, 2017 and 2020. “My dream of becoming an officer has remained only that. This was even my parents’ dream,” said Raghavendra, an aspirant who took the mains 15 months ago.
Vinay Kumar GB, founder-director, Insights on India, that coaches candidates, said: “Some aspirants will cross the age limit if recruitment is not completed and notified. ” A KPSC official said the mains answers sheets are yet to be evaluated. “Only some papers were evaluated, and the rest kept aside. University professors, who were to evaluate the papers, are busy with their academic work,” the official said.
Kumar’s office said he intends to question KPSC officials on “why they cannot function as transparently as UPSC”.
Goel named ACS to govt
CM Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday handed Rajneesh Goel concurrent charge of additional chief secretary to the government. He is ACS home department and relieves the next chief secretary Vandita Sharma of her duties. Bommai also relieved Sharma of her duties as development commissioner and handed ISN Prasad concurrent charge.
