Karnataka: Deceased man's kin get second-dose message, shocked

TUMAKURU: ML Basappa, from Melekote in Tumakuru, had died over six months ago, but his family members were shocked as they got a message from the health department that he'd been given the second dose of Covid vaccine.

Basappa died on July 16, 2021 aged 80 - he took the first dose on April 9, 2021 - and his son Panchaksharaiah has alleged he got the second-dose message on Saturday. According to the message, Basappa was administered the second shot at Kothithope primary health centre. Panchaksharaiah said three of his family members who have not taken the second dose have been sent messages that they have been given the same. Basappa's vaccine certificate has also been generated.

District health officer MB Nagendrappa said: "We will find out how this happened...The error might have occured while uploading the mobile number for registering their names for the dose." He clarified those who have not taken the vaccine won't get the certificate.
