MANGALURU: Dakshina Kannada district administration has decided to increase surveillance against Covid-19 following the directions of Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai.
The CM held a video conference on Saturday in view of increasing Covid-19 cases, said deputy commissioner Dr K V Rajendra.
The DC said that the district will begin screening in all college campuses and hostels with RT-PCR tests. "Special emphasis will be given on medical and para medical students. The CM also has directed the district to increase the number of tests. Further, contact tracing needs to be improved in the district and it will be done at the ratio of 1:15".
Special vigil will be in place to check possibilities of cluster cases in educational institutions. Border check posts will be activated to enforce strict surveillance and screening. Movement of people from Kerala, other states and foreign countries will be monitored. Vaccination drives will be done on priority," the DC said.
Dakshina Kannada district recorded 13 more cases of virus infection with a test positivity rate of 0.3% on Saturday. The district has 128 active cases.
