Karmichael Hunt will appear for the Brisbane Broncos for the first time in almost 12 years when he takes to the field against the Raiders in Canberra on Saturday night.
The Raiders match will mark 4,277 days since Hunt last played for the Broncos in the 2009 NRL finals series.
The 34-year-old has been named at five-eighth to face the Raiders on the back of solid performances for Souths Logan Magpies in the second-tier Queensland Cup.
He enjoyed a successful first stint with the Broncos, playing 125 NRL matches between 2004 and 2009 after making his debut as a 17-year-old.
Hunt won a premiership with the Broncos in 2006, while he also made 10 State of Origin appearances for Queensland and played 11 Tests for Australia.
His career since he last played for the Broncos has stretched across three football codes.
He made a shock move to the AFL when he joined the Gold Coast Suns ahead of their inaugural season in 2011, while fitting in a brief stint playing rugby union in France before he linked up with the fledgling franchise.
Hunt spent four AFL seasons with the Suns before switching to rugby union when he joined the Queensland Reds ahead of their 2015 Super Rugby campaign.
He made his Test debut with the Wallabies in 2017 while playing at the Reds.
Hunt was no longer wanted by the Reds when he joined the New South Wales Waratahs, with whom he played in 2019 and 2020.
He eventually moved back to Brisbane and has played seven matches for the Magpies in the Queensland Cup.
The Broncos have struggled under new coach Kevin Walters so far in 2021.
The former premiership heavyweight has won only three of its 13 matches to sit in 15th place on the 16-team ladder.
