'Karma' - Bristol City legend sends message to Derby's ex-Robin after play-off triumph over Leeds

Bristol City legend Scott Murray had a message for a former Robin after he reached the Championship play-off final in dramatic fashion.

Ex-City defender Richard Keogh starred as Derby County became the first team in history to overturn a play-off semi-final first leg defeat at home to reach Wembley as they beat Leeds United 4-2 at Elland Road.

The Irish centre-back surged out of defence and provided a perfectly-weighted assist for Jack Marriott to score the decisive goal in the 85th minute. Cue wild celebrations on the final whistle.

Keogh experienced an enjoyable but incident-packed three years as a  Bristol City player  after arriving from Stoke in 2005.

Initially sent out on loan, the then full-back worked his way into then manager Gary Johnson's affections and made the right-back position his own when Bradley Orr was jailed for his part in a nightclub brawl in 2006.

Promotion to the Championship in 2007 saw Keogh named Young Player of the Year but he then lost his place and left for Carlisle in 2008 before working his way up the leagues again via Coventry and now Derby where he has been a mainstay of the Rams defence for the last seven seasons.

Bristol City and Leeds United transfer target offered new contract in move that will trigger compensation fee

Keogh met his wife Charlie in Bristol, were married near Blagdon in 2012, and admitted she would be cheering the home side on when Derby visited Ashton Gate towards the end of the season.

After Derby reached the play-off final for the second consecutive year, Keogh's former Bristol City teammate and Robins legend Scott Murray took to Twitter to wish him well.

Following the now infamous 'Spygate' scandal earlier this season where a member of Leeds' staff was found at Derby's training ground ahead of their league meeting in January where the Whites won 2-0, Murray saw Wednesday's victory for Keogh as a matter of what goes around, comes around.

Along with a love heart emoji, he tweeted: "Karma is a beautiful thing buzzing for you pal."

Former midfielder Murray made 426 appearances for the Robins over two spells at the club, scoring 91 times. He is now City's kitman.

He was not the only Bristol City fan to revel in Leeds' defeat.
