Karl Joseph signs his Browns contract despite not having a physical

The Cleveland Browns still haven’t physically met with Karl Joseph, nor have they examined his surgically repaired foot in person. But in the age of coronavirus pandemic travel and meeting restrictions, the two sides still managed to get a contract signed.

Joseph signed his 1-year, $2.5 million contract with the team on Monday. The former Raiders safety doesn’t seem concerned about passing a physical despite having foot surgery in November. He suffered a plantar fascia injury in Week 10 and had several screws inserted into his right foot.

“We will handle the physical later,’’ Joseph said via conference call with local media. “My agent and the Browns were able to work something out to where we were able to finalize the contract, which I’m excited about.”

Joseph admitted in the call he’s “close to 100 percent” and he’s not worried about passing a physical down the road, once he’s able to actually travel to Cleveland.

“I don’t think it will be an issue,’’ Joseph stated. “I’m 100 percent positive that I’ll be fine with the physical. I will pass it.”
