Karl-Anthony Towns Makes Bold Statement on Anthony Edwards’s Star Potential

Since the Minnesota Timberwolves debuted in the 1989-90 season, the citizens of the Land of 10,000 Lakes have been waiting for a team like this latest edition.

Timberwolves fans have seen contenders—especially during Hall of Fame forward Kevin Garnett’s heyday. However, the 2024 edition of the franchise can seemingly do no wrong.

Steering the ship is guard Anthony Edwards, the 22-year-old two-time All-Star who forward Karl-Anthony Towns asserted Friday has eye-popping potential.

“When he’s playing the game the way he’s playing right now, I think he’s one of the top players in the NBA,” Towns said Friday ahead of a hotly anticipated game against the Milwaukee Bucks. “You mix that in with the charisma and the personality he has, he’s a huge boost in our locker room as well.”

Towns then went a step further with his praise.

“He hates when I say it, but he’s going to be the face of the NBA. Sooner than later. We’re super honored that we all get to play with him, that we all get to help him in this process of maturing and becoming the face, and I think that the future’s very, very bright for him.”

Between his offbeat sense of humor and acting chops, it would seem that the Georgia product is already on his way.
