Karim Zeroual admits he's 'jealous' of Strictly stars as he calls Maisie Smith to win

Strictly Come Dancing 2019 star Karim Zeroual, who has also appeared on EastEnders and Blue Peter, revealed he is "jealous" of this year's contestants.

Karim is the new face of Naked smoothie's Bold O'Clock campaign, still counts Strictly as the boldest thing he has ever done as he performed to 10-12 million people every Saturday.

"I was the first person at my TV to watch the launch show," he told MirrorOnline.

"It's surreal really, I was so excited and a bit jealous, I just wanted to get up there and dance.

"Everyone smashed it, I know how terrifying the first show is, but what a strong line up, and big up Strictly for making it happen this year."

Asked who he predicted as a winner or potential finalist, he said: "Maisie [Smith] is a force to be reckoned with, seeing her perform you can see her natural talent for dance.

"HRVY as well had some amazing moves, Clara [Amfo] did so well as well, but huge big up to Katya [Jones] and Nicola [Adams] as well, that's tough to choreograph.

"There are no limits and no rules, it's the first time it's been done, so credit to them."

Karim revealed he feels incredibly lucky not to have been badly affected by the pandemic while so many were.

"Unfortunately some work I had planned had to be delayed or cancelled, but I try to stay positive and keep plodding on.

"I try to remember that there might be negatives to how it's affecting my life, but there are people out there who have caught coronavirus or have lost family or friends and loved ones, I always try to remember that."

But fans of Karim will be delighted to know he is starring on Celebrity Best Home Cook with Mary Berry, which comes out in January.

And he will be starring in a West End show called Here Come The Boys with his fellow Strictly stars Graziano di Prima, Aljaž Škorjanec, Pasha Kovalev, and Robin Windsor.

"It's a privilege to be dancing with these fantastic dancers," said Karim.

"I am dusting off the old dancing shoes!"

Karim made it to the Strictly final last year and said he'd absolutely love to return to the show if the offer was there.

"But I couldn't do it without my little Amy [Dowden]", he said.

"We are in touch all the time, I have so much to thank her for - not just for getting me to the final of Strictly, but I am very lucky to have had opportunities and doors opened and I have a lot to thank her for.

"She was very patient with me as I was dancing my little socks off!"

He said: "I can relate to the campaign thoroughly.

"I am very lucky and humbled to have been quite busy throughout my career, and I always do try to take some time out and give myself a bit of breathing space to pick my feet up and have a brew, but I’m just not doing it enough, so when this campaign came about I really wanted to get involved in the Bold O'Clock campaign.

"We can all relate to it, we all prioritise work and personal commitments, but how often do we prioritise our own time to clear our thoughts and humanise and centre ourselves?

"So now every day I try to take half an hour to an hour, whether it be off my phone, going for a walk, listening to some nice relaxing music, calming myself.

"In turn, that is helping me to lead a happier positive life, but it also helps my work commitments as well, getting the best out of me."
