Karim Benzema previously made the prediction that Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar would be one of the top players in Europe, amid fresh links with Arsenal and Liverpool.
The 21-year-old is considered one of the most exciting prospects in Ligue 1, with his performances attracting attention from a host of major clubs.
A report cited in The Mirror claims Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester City are all monitoring the Lyon star, ahead of a potential bid in the transfer window.
It is thought Jurgen Klopp's side are frontrunners for Aouar's signature, with talks reportedly underway for the £65million-rated midfielder.
But Arsenal are also on the hunt for central midfield reinforcements this summer, with Mikel Arteta's side also linked with the likes of Bayern Munich's Corentin Tolisso and Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey.
And Real Madrid striker Benzema has already stated that his compatriot will go on to establish himself as one of the best in his position.
“Aouar? He is the new star of Lyon and the next generation of the club,” Benzema said in 2018.
“His beautiful season only confirms what I said about him. He is a very good player.
“I know him, I really like the player. He can go far.”
Aouar starred in Lyon's Champions League clashes with Manchester City last season, leading to Pep Guardiola praising the midfielder.
“Houssem is a very good player. He is incredible," Guardiola said at the time.
“He is excellent. He is always very calm with the ball at his feet, with an excellent technical quality.”
