Karim Benzema rules out imminent Lyon return and wants to 'keep making history' at Real Madrid

Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has ruled out a return to former club Lyon in the near future and insists he wants to 'keep making history' with Los Blancos.

Benzema moved from Lyon to Madrid in the summer of 2009 and has won 17 trophies for Real, including four Champions League crowns.

Earlier in his career, he claimed four Ligue 1 titles with Lyon and he told the club's official website: "I am the player I am today thanks to Lyon."

Asked about a possible link-up with Lyon in future, he said: "With regards to returning, for the moment no. I want to keep making history at Real Madrid, which is the best team in the world.

"After that, you never know. If I could end my career at Lyon? Why not?"

Lyon's current sporting director, Juninho Pernambucano, has made no secret of his desire to bring back Benzema one day and the striker said: "I used to love playing with Juninho, also with [Sylvain] Wiltord."
