Kareem Hunt impressive in the first joint practice with the Colts

Kareem Hunt reminded the Indianapolis Colts why he was the NFL’s leading rusher back in 2017 in Wednesday’s joint practice session. Hunt also demonstrated to his Browns teammates and coaches why they should be excited about his presence in the process.

Hunt was one of the practice standouts for Cleveland in the first of two joint practices at the Colts training facility north of Indianapolis. Twitter was littered with posts about Hunt breaking off long runs and showing power and vision when the Colts defense tried to corral him.

Coach Freddie Kitchens spoke highly of Hunt after the practice.

“I thought he looked good for not taking any reps (before Monday),” Kitchens said. “He broke out on a few, embraced his speed and all those things you see on tape. He has been good in the pass protection. He’s right where we want him to be.”

Quarterback Baker Mayfield liked what he saw, too.

“It’s great to have Kareem out there, the special talent that he is, and to get out there with us because he’s going to have a long wait until he plays,” Mayfield told reporters.

Hunt is eligible to practice and play in the preseason despite being suspended for the first eight games for a series of off-field incidents.
