Karamoko Dembele set for Celtic debut as Neil Lennon admits youngster could play against Hearts

Karamoko Dembele could make his Celtic debut this weekend after Neil Lennon revealed the youngster is in line to play against Hearts.

The England youth international has been training with the Hoops first team this season and this week was withdrawn from England U17 duty for the European Championships in Ireland.

And now Lennon has confirmed the winger is in line to make an appearance on trophy day, with Ewan Henderson also likely to get a game.

The midfielder has made three appearances so far this season and was named man of the match in the 4-1 win over Motherwell.

But with Celtic without James Forrest and Kieran Tierney for the game, the youngsters are set to come in.

Lennon said: " Karamoko Dembele is a possibility for Sunday. He’s training with the squad this week, as is Ewan Henderson.

"We’ve got boys that are carrying knocks and we don’t feel the need to risk them ahead of the Cup Final.

"Kieran Tierney and James Forrest won’t be involved at the weekend but both should be fit for the cup final.”

Celtic will lift the trophy on Sunday with Hoops legend Paul McStay set to present the silverware to current captain Scott Brown.

And Lennon added: “It’s always a very special occasion and great atmosphere.

"Ultimately, it’s about Scott Brown picking up the trophy and standing alongside a podium full of players. We’ve done it eight times in a row, which is very difficult to do.”
