Karamoko Dembele reveals Celtic injury setback as star goes under the knife after ankle rehab blow

Celtic talent Karamoko Dembele is facing a length layoff as he after a blow to his ankle fracture rehab.

The 18-year-old has been on the sidelines since fracturing his ankle during the pre-season tour of Wales.

The starlet has yet to make his breakthrough into the Parkhead first teams, but early signs were promising under Ange Postecoglou before he limped off against Bristol City.

In an update on his Instagram page, Dembele confirmed he had dealt a blow in his recovery.

He said: "Unfortunately I’ve had some problems with the healing process of my ankle fracture, so I’ve had to go back in get surgery. I shall be back on the field soon!"

Dembele is one of the biggest prospects to come through the Celtic academy in recent years, but for one reason or another, he's not forced his way into the first team yet.

The England youth cap burst onto the scene as a 14-year-old in 2016 when he made his debut for the reserves and sponsorship deals and lofty predictions have followed.

During the summer, Postecoglou admitted he had been looking forward to working with the tricky winger, who has entered the final year of his contract.

Following his injury, the manager said: "He has youth and time on his side so hopefully they will work hard and get back.”
