Karamoko Dembele makes Celtic debut as he replaces Oliver Burke

Karamoko Dembele has made his Celtic debut from the bench after replacing Oliver Burke at half time against Hearts.

The highly-rated prospect has been training with the first team squad regularly since turning professional in February.

He was pulled out of England's squad to go to the U17 European Championship in Ireland and Neil Lennon hinted a debut was incoming.

And he's now made his Hoops bow at the age of 16. Fellow youth stars Armstrong Oko-Flex, Daniel Church and Stephen Welsh are also among the substitutes.

Dembele has become one of the youngest players in Celtic's history, but hasn't overtaken Jack Aitchison who made his debut at 16 years and 71 days against Motherwell on the final day of the season in 2016.

Earlier this week, Lennon said: " Karamoko Dembele is a possibility for Sunday. He’s training with the squad this week, as is Ewan Henderson.

"We’ve got boys that are carrying knocks and we don’t feel the need to risk them ahead of the Cup Final.

"Kieran Tierney and James Forrest won’t be involved at the weekend but both should be fit for the cup final.”
