Karamoko Dembele makes Celtic vow as youngster opens up on dazzling debut and future plans

Even as he lived every young Celtic kid's dream, Karamoko Dembele refused to bask in the glory of the occasion.

The teenager was handed the opportunity to show a full house at Parkhead a tantalising glimpse of the future on Sunday - and he didn't disappoint.

That this debut felt a long-time coming despite Dembele turning 16 only three months ago demonstrates the unprecedented excitement about his potential.

But, in fact, the teenager appears more level headed about the whole thing than anyone else.

Indeed, the only thought on his mind as he found himself in the midst of the club's eighth consecutive title party was knuckling down even more.

"It was really good. I enjoyed it," Dembele told the Celtic View.

"I must admit, I was more excited than nervous beforehand.

"I've always wanted to make my professional debut for Celtic , I've always wanted to play for Celtic, and I'm obviously so happy that it came earlier than it probably should have, given my age.

"Now, it's about continuing as before. The hard work doesn't stop here, by no means, in fact, this is where I want to start working harder than ever before.

"That's the league campaign finished, so I want my focus now to be on next season.

"I can hopefully go away with the first-team on pre-season, keep working as hard as I possibly can, and try to keep myself in the manager's plans."

Dembele's introduction injected some much needed life into what was a largely pedestrian win over the Jambos - the driest of dry runs for Saturday's Scottish Cup Final.

It's been speculated the diminutive winger could again secure a place on the bench, such was his impact.

Either way, he simply can't wait to play in front of the Celtic support again.

He said: "The reception I received from the fans against Hearts on Sunday was absolutely unbelievable. I really didn't expect it, to be honest!

"I can't wait to get the chance to play in front of so many passionate fans again. The noise in the stadium is incredible and it just drives you forward.

"As I say, for me it's about going away now, working hard, and taking any opportunities I can down the line to do things like Sunday all over again."
