Karamoko Dembele and the need for Celtic to be cautious over Parkhead prodigy - latest podcast

Celtic were presented with their eighth consecutive Premiership title on Sunday - but in years to come it could be remembered as the day Karamoko Dembele took his bow.

The prodigious 16-year-old was a half-time substitute in the 2-1 over Hearts and injected some much needed life into a largely dull, end-of-season affair.

Dembele's debut has been an eagerly anticipated event ever since he was thrust into the spotlight at just 13, turning out for the development squad in 2016.

But now that the secret is officially out, how do Celtic manage him going forward? He already come in for some heavy treatment against the Jambos and that's likely to be a hurdle he'll have to overcome, given the physical nature of Scottish football.

Liam Bryce was joined by Record Sport 's Tony Haggerty and our Celtic blogger Jamie Flynn to reflect on Dembele's debut and debate what the future holds for the teenager.

And the keyword that emerged from the discussion? Caution.

"It's about easing him in and picking the right games for him, he's still very slight and he's still a boy.

"Especially in this Scottish game, we tend to put physicality ahead of skill - he was clattered in the Hearts game.

"I think the only reason that went relatively unnoticed is that it was another young boy that clattered him. But if he's coming up against a Kirk Broadfoot, who'll stick him three feet in the air, his development is going to be stunted."

Also on the agenda was the upcoming summer transfer window and the small matter of who will be the next permanent Celtic manager.

Neil Lennon remains in pole position but what about David Moyes ?
