- Manufacturer Kao USA has voluntarily recalled selected Oribe shampoo products in the US and Canada after pluralibacter gergoviae bacteria was detected.
- The recall targets the Oribe Serene Scalp Densifying Shampoo in 8.5 oz and 33.8 oz, with Kao USA warning that those “manufactured between February 21, 2026 and February 26, 2026, could be impacted.”
- YR010556 is the affected lot code for the 8.5 oz size, while customers should look for YR010566 and YR010576 on the 33.8 oz size bottles.
- According to Kao USA, the bacteria poses “little medical risk to healthy people”, however, “those with certain health issues such as weakened immune systems may be more susceptible to infection by the bacteria.”
- All customers who have purchased the affected products are advised to “discontinue use”, while “retail and salon partners” have been asked to “remove affected lots from use and/or sale and return them to us for safe disposal”.
