Kanye West 'walked out' of Kim Kardashian's SNL monologue after divorce cracks

Kim Kardashian has said that her ex-husband Kanye West walked out on her Saturday Night Live hosting debut show mid-monologue after he took issue with her jokes.

In the latest episode of The Kardashians, which is streaming on Hulu and Disney+, Kim was walking with her sister Khloe Kardashian in Los Angeles when Khloe asked how the pair’s relationship was going.

Kim made it clear before taking to the SNL stage that everybody, including herself, was at risk of being poked fun at during the opening monologue.

In Kim’s SNL monologue, she said: “I married the best rapper of all time. The richest Black man in America. When I divorced him, it came down to just one thing: his personality.”

But she told her sister that Kanye was not happy she called him merely a 'rapper' and that she used the word 'divorce', adding that she had not spoken to him since.

Kim told Khloe: “He's upset with the fact that I used the word ‘divorce’. He wished I said the word ‘filed for divorce’.

“He was upset I also said he was a rapper. He said, ‘I'm so much more than a rapper - I can't believe you said rapper’.”

Kim told the Hulu cameras: “I never want to offend anyone and I never want to hurt anyone, but also that's what this monologue is for, to make a joke.

“I made fun of myself, I made fun of my mum, I made fun of everything that's personal to me. It's all fun and games and apparently it wasn't to him.”

The 41-year-old added that she’s “sat there through so many [of Ye’s] speeches” and “things that have not been the most comfortable for me, but that was my partner and I stood by him. I’d never embarrass him and walk out”.

Khloe then added: “Not even just speeches. Strong public stances he's taken in many different areas that might not be your stance, but you were his wife and that's what you do. But how is that fair for you?”

Kim then said that Kanye was “so used” to “getting exactly wants” and that she has “never seen anything like it”.

Kim added: “Good for him, but it's not going to happen here.”

She finally told the cameras: “We have four kids together. I always want to have a good healthy relationship with him, but after SNL happened I felt I needed to focus on the bar and get new energy.”

The Kardashians is available to stream on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in the UK.
