Aside from being a hugely successful rapper and fashion designer, it’s probably fair to say Kanye West is now also famous for is his Twitter account. The rapper’s prolific Twitter history dates back to him joining in July 2010. Highlights over the years include: “sometimes I get emotional over fonts” and “I hate when I’m on a flight and I wake up with a water bottle next to me like oh great now I gotta be responsible for this water bottle”.
These brilliant yet bizarre meanderings used to be an occasional treat, but three months into 2016 that definitely hasn’t been the case. So far there’s been a spat with Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose which sent the internet into a frenzy in January and then there was the apparent declaration he was $53million in “personal debt” (which his mother-in-law Kris Jenner clarified on Wednesday). His most recent antics involved trolling the DJ Deadmau5 by repeatedly referring to him as “Dead-mow-5” and asking where he stores his giant mouse head when he travels on planes.
These recent outbursts inspired Vanity Fair to ask high-profile individuals on their way to the post-Oscars party on Sunday evening to give dramatic readings of the 38-year-old’s tweets. Presented by Youtuber Tyler Oakley, they include thespian performances from Sir Patrick Stewart, J.J. Abrams, James Corden, Kate Hudson and Monica Lewinsky.
