Kanye West suspended from Twitter after swastika post

Kanye West has been suspended from Twitter. The rapper, who earlier in the day praised Adolf Hitler, violated the platform's policies on incitement to violence, Twitter owner Elon Musk said.

West, who now goes by the name Ye, sent a succession of erratic tweets on Thursday. One appeared to show a symbol combining a swastika with a Star of David, a symbol of Judaism.

Tech billionaire Musk confirmed the suspension to a Twitter user who asked him to "fix Kanye". "I tried my best," Musk replied.

"Despite that, he again violated our rule against incitement to violence. Account will be suspended."

West repeatedly praised Hitler as he appeared on conspiracy theorist Alex Jones' Infowars platform. During the interview, with his face completely covered in a black mask, described himself as a Nazi and said "I like Hitler".

He also claimed Hitler was not responsible for the deaths of six million Jews. After being booted from Twitter, West instead turned to Truth Social, the platform created by former US president Donald Trump.

He reportedly posted a screenshot showing that he was locked out of his account for 12 hours. It comes as the parent company of alternative messaging platform Parler announced that the rapper would no longer be buying the platform.
