Kanye West has settled a lawsuit with a paparazzo he attacked in 2013.

The photographer, Daniel Ramos, was waiting outside Los Angeles international airport with a group of colleagues as the rapper came through the terminal.

According to Ramos’s lawyer, when the photographer shouted out “Kanye, why can’t we talk to you?”, West tried to wrestle his camera out of his hands.

The photographer fell to the ground and injured his right hip in the melee, earning West a lawsuit alleging assault, battery, negligence and interference with Ramos’s civil rights.

Last March, the same incident saw West charged with a misdemeanour count of battery against a photographer. The musician’s lawyer entered a no contest plea, and West was sentenced to two years’ probation.

The judge told him to a attend 24 anger management sessions, perform 250 hours of community service and pay restitution to the victim.

Ramos’s lawsuit against West was settled a week before it was due to go to trial, the details remaining confidential.

Ramos’s lawyer, Gloria Allred, said: “This case sent an important message. Celebrities are not above the law, and they have no right to physically attack someone simply because they were asked a question.”

She also provided the media with a picture of an apparently reconciled West and Ramos shaking hands.
