Kanye West sounded worn down in a recent street style interview, and the reaction online shows just how much his mood struck a nerve. The short clip posted on the Mystery Fashionist TikTok account shows the rapper being his usual fashion focused self at first, then suddenly dropping a comment that left fans stunned.
The interviewer who introduced himself as Ajay handed the microphone over so West could say his own name. The 48 year old kept it simple and said he was “Ye from Chi.” Ajay then asked him to rate his outfit and talk about what he was wearing.
West did not hesitate and said his fits are always a “10 out of 10.” He pointed out that he had on the original Yeezy 950 boots and said the rest of his look came from a pop up store he had dropped into earlier.
Things shifted when Ajay asked him to name a fashion trend he regrets joining. West paused for a long moment while nodding like he was thinking through something heavy. Instead of naming a look or a style he slowly answered, “Life.”
The tone of the clip changed instantly and so did the reaction online. Fans filled the comments with concern and a lot of people pointed out that he looked “sad.” One person shared a meme and wrote, “The pain in his eyes when he said ‘life.’” Another added, “I ain’t no expert but bro looks sad,” and someone else said he has “been quiet lately.”
A few viewers wondered if it was even the “real” Kanye because of how calm he sounded. One person joked, “You literally never know what is going to come out of this man’s mouth.” Others pointed out how he brightened up only when talking about his outfit and then went right back to looking drained.
West has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons lately. His antisemitic remarks cost him major deals and his billionaire status. Reports have also swirled about financial struggles and legal issues. On top of that his ex wife Kim Kardashian recently opened up about their “toxic” marriage and claimed he would give away luxury cars during what she described as an “episode.”
