Kanye West says endorsing Trump was 'God's practical joke to all liberals'

Kanye West has likened his endorsement of Donald Trump to a divine “joke” on liberals.

The rapper spoke to host Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s Beats 1 in an interview that aired on Thursday, discussing a variety of topics from religion and music to politics.

“I am unquestionably, undoubtedly, the greatest human artist of all time,” West (who famously met Donald Trump at the White House last year) said in one instance.

“It’s not even a question at this point. It’s just a fact. For the greatest artist in human existence to put a red hat on was God’s practical joke to all liberals. Like, ‘Nooo, not Kanye!’”

West also said he was planning on releasing a new Sunday Service album called Jesus Is Born this coming Christmas.

His other upcoming release, Jesus Is King, is supposed to debut on 25 October – though it missed two planned release dates last month.

In his conversation with Lowe, West, who discussed his newfound Christian faith, said he had asked people working with him on the album to refrain from having premarital sex.

“There were times where I was asking people not to have premarital sex while they were working on the album,” he said.

He also mentioned his potential 2024 presidential run, an idea he discussed last year, telling Lowe “there will be a time when I will be President of the United States”, at which point he will remember “any founder that didn’t have the capacity to understand culturally what we’re doing.”
