Kanye West’s celebrity pal believes the rapper is “so many light years” ahead of his time.
Fashion jewellery designer Ben Baller made the bold claim, saying he's convinced controversial Kanye is a “misunderstood genius”.
Kanye is famous for his Twitter rants and is rarely out of the public eye thanks to his music and his high-profile divorce from Kim Kardashian.
And Ben, who is also a musician, even joked that Kayne could one day end up “speaking alien”.
“He’s so many light years ahead of people that just having a normal conversation with him is difficult,” said Ben, according to the Daily Star.
“You can’t sit there and be like, ‘Do you want some coffee?’ He’d be like, ‘What the f*** are you talking about?'
“I’m surprised he doesn’t speak an alien language yet.”
Kanye’s rumoured net worth jumped to a whopping $6.6billion – yes billion – earlier this year. That’s a staggering £4.8billion in UK currency.
Boosted by robust sales of his trendy Yeezy trainer sales and projected earnings from his designer Yeezy Gap line, the rapper turned clothing mogul is said to be raking in the cash.
Kanye also has a sizeable investment in his soon to be ex-wife’s Skims shapewear line and a bulging music catalogue which provides plenty of royalties.
And Ben believes his 43-year-old buddy is so talented that it’s no wonder he is so successful in his professional life.
“He is like the director, the producer, the DP, you name it – the key grip, everything,” reflected Ben,
“He takes control of everything. He wants to know everything about everything. He really is misunderstood and he is a good dude.
“Whatever it is, he’s just a passionate person. I think because he’s so passionate, other people might not match his passion.
“Because they don’t match his passion, they can’t see eye-to-eye with him, and think he’s weird.”
Ben’s list of celebrity clients reads like a top hit chart, with Kanye, Drake, Nas, Frank Ocean, Snoop Dogg, Mariah Carey and Rita Ora amongst a string of stars who have had hand-crafted jewellery designed for them.
The Los Angeles-based entrepreneur also one made a diamond-encrusted belt buckle for former King of Pop Michael Jackson.
“It’s a pretty long list,” Ben once teased in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter.
And undoubtedly he’s excited about the release of Kanye’s new album Donda, which was due for release at the start of the month.
Kanye recently announced a third listening party for the album, but the release of his eagerly-anticipated record remains delayed.
The follow-up to his 2019 album Jesus is King was delayed last year and rescheduled for July, only to be delayed again after West held his first listening party for 40,000 fans in Atlanta.
