Characterised by glitz, glamour and floor-length gowns which practically smell of money, the Met Gala is all about celebrities trying to outdo each other in the fashion stakes.
But Kanye West avoided splashing the cash this year by wearing a bargain jacket to the annual Gala in New York.
The rapper wore a simple black Dickies zip-up jacket on the red carpet and completed his dressed-down look with a pair of black trousers, plain white T-shirt and YEEZY Season 4 Military Combat Boots.
Kanye’s casual attire allowed his wife, Kim Kardashian West, to take centre stage, with the reality star stepping out in a beaded Thierry Mugler dress which took eight months to create.
The couple were among dozens of celebrities who presented their interesting take on this year’s Met Gala theme, “Camp: Notes on Fashion”, including Katy Perry, who came dressed as a chandelier and later, a cheeseburger (yes, really.)
