(Picture: Getty)American rapper Kanye West is rumoured to be releasing a new album and has apparently held a listening party in Las Vegas.
The multi-award-winning artist has sold 20 million albums and 140 million singles worldwide and has won 22 Grammy Awards.
Some fans now think the release of a new studio album is on the horizon as soon as this week. His latest single, Wash Us in the Blood – which was released in June and features rapper Travis Scott – is thought to be from the new album, which will reportedly be called Donda after the rapper’s mother who died in 2007.
In a tweet, culture website SAINT reported that West was currently having a listening party for his upcoming album, held in Las Vegas.

Musician Justin Laboy also appeared to confirm the news on Twitter, writing: “Kanye West album is really done. When it drops this week, we probably not going to listen to anything else for a while..”

In a subsequent tweet, Laboy said he’d listened to the album in Vegas and called it “light years ahead of its time”.
Kanye played his new album for me & @KDTrey5 last night in Vegas. Man listen! The production is light years ahead of it’s time, and the bars sound like he’s broke & hungry trying to get signed again. Any artist who plan on dropping soon should just push it back 😤 #Respectfully

But, some fans remain unconvinced. The rapper has a history of teasing an album and delaying the release date.
In 2019, the release of West’s album Jesus is King was delayed several times.
A tweet posted by the rapper’s then wife Kim Kardashian contained a tracklist for the project and confirmed a release date of 27 September.
The rapper then confirmed he would miss the scheduled release date, providing a new release date of 29 September, which was also missed.
In another tweet, West announced the album would be released at midnight on 25 October. But just before midnight, the rapper tweeted again saying they were still working on some of the songs. It was eventually released to streaming services at 4:30am on 25 October.
Reports of a listening party of his new album may have excited some fans, but others are unconvinced that the album will be being released this week.
One Twitter user wrote: “Only people that aren’t excited for the new Kanye West album are actual Kanye fans cause they know damn well it’s not coming out.”

One person joked they won’t believe he’s dropped it until they’ve listened to at least the first four songs of the album.

Whether West decides to release the album in the near future, or whether to delay it as he did with Jesus is King, there is certainly excitement among his fans about new music.
