Kanye West forges ahead with 2020 Presidential bid and submits pivotal documents

Hip-hop legend Kanye West is forging ahead with his planned Presidential bid this year.

The Yeezy star, 43, has filed a Statement of Candidacy which states that he has spent more than $5,000 in campaign expenses, achieving him candidate status by US federal law.

In documents seen by TMZ, Kanye put his political party down as BDY, standing for Birthday Party.

Kanye's political committee is instead listed as "Kanye 2020".

The Love Lockdown artist lists his residences as being in Cody, Wyoming, where has recently purchased a new property with his social media queen wife Kim Kardashian.

The pair have four children together: North, Saint, Psalm, and Chicago West.

Kanye previously filed the first set of documents with the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday, but the ones today carry more political importance.

The previous statement confirmed the Kanye 2020 committee as the Principal Campaign Committee with a Statement of Organization.

The star has also filed documentation to ensure he is on the Presidential ballot in Oklahoma, however, he has already missed deadlines to run in some states such as Florida.

National polls already indicate that Kanye has no chance of winning the election, being likely to garner only 2% of the vote.

However, Kanye's share of the vote could swing a close election between incumbent Republican President Donald Trump and the Democrat nominee Joe Biden.

According to a Quinnipiac University national poll released on Wednesday, Biden is leading with a 15-point advantage over President Trump, with the share being 52 – 37 per cent in his favour.

It is unknown if Kanye could hinder Biden's chances of getting Trump out of office.

Kanye first announced his intentions to run for the office of President of the United States of America earlier this month via Twitter.

He tweeted: Kanye tweeted: "We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future.”

He dramatically added: "I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION."

The tweet was shared by his wife and the potential First Lady herself Kim Kardashian, who commented with an American flag emoji.

Kanye has revealed some of his political positions include being anti-abortion and anti-vaccines.
