Kanye West finally drops 'Jesus Is King' after multiple false alarms

Miracles do happen.

Kanye West finally released his new album, "Jesus is King," at noon Friday after failing to drop his latest collection on several previously scheduled release dates.

It came after West's big night in New York Thursday, as he appeared on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" in Brooklyn and made a surprise visit to the World Trade Center transit hub in Lower Manhattan, filming a performance to the delight of fans in the Oculus, many of whom posted about the event on Twitter.

The religiously minded 11-track gospel album features artists from rapper Ty Dolla $ign to jazz saxophonist Kenny G.

In some of his latest bizarre comments, the 42-year-old "Stronger" rapper recently told Apple Music Beats 1 that he urged collaborators "not to have premarital sex while they were working on the album," The Guardian reported Thursday. Instead, he wanted the artists to "just work and focus on this ... families who pray together stay together."

"Jesus Is King," which was originally titled "Yandhi," is a long time coming.

The "Gold Digger" singer's ninth album was supposed to arrive in September 2018. Then, as Consequence of Sound reported, last year, West pushed it to two separate November 2018 release times.

By late August of this year, an album still hadn't hit shelves, but West's wife, Kim Kardashian, teased a track list and a Sept. 27 release date on social media, with West eventually also confirming that release date.

But wait, there's more. On Sept. 27, West did preview part of the album at listening events, but not the whole thing.

Two days later, on Sept. 29, Kardashian said on it would be released in two weeks. It wasn't.

The couple stayed quiet and then on Oct. 12, West said it would tentatively be released on Oct. 25, which he confirmed earlier this week.

Even before "Jesus is King" finally arrived, Ye was already looking towards future projects.

He recently announced his plans to release his next album, "Jesus Is Born," on, appropriately, Christmas Day.

But fans would be wise not to count on it in time to give away as a holiday gift.
