Kanye West film trailer for ‘Jesus Is King’ released: WATCH

Kanye West presides over the second of two Chicago-area Sunday Service events, this one at Fellowship Missionary Church on the city’s South Side, in September. | Justin Jackson/ Sun-Times

Kanye West is coming to the big screen next week, courtesy of his IMAX film “Jesus Is King” (also the title of his latest album, which may — or may not — be released to coincide with the movie).

The film’s trailer was released today, and features voices of a gospel choir singing over an image from artist James Turrell’s volcanic cinder cone art installation, the Roden Crater. The movie was filmed at the site of the massive outdoor installation, just northeast of Flagstaff, Arizona.

The film, directed by Nick Knight, reportedly features music arranged by Kanye and performed along with the Sunday Service Choir, the ensemble appearing with West at his hugely popular Sunday Service spiritual gatherings/songfests.

The trailer provides precious little insight into the film, save for one on-screen Bible passage:

“In the words of Jesus Christ, ‘The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand, repent and believe in the gospel.’ Mark 1:15.”

Tickets for the film are available at jesusisking.imax.com
