Kanye West claims album Donda released without his permission and track was blocked

Kanye West claims his new album was released without his permission.

After hosting a string of listening parties for Donda - named after his late mother - and making headlines by appearing to set himself on fire and being joined on stage by his estranged wife Kim Kardashian, who was wearing a wedding dress, his album finally dropped today.

The 27-track album dropped on Apple Music and Spotify, much to the delight of fans, who had been growing impatient.

But now, Kanye has insisted that they shouldn't have heard it yet.

He posted on Instagram : "Universal put my album out without my approval and they blocked Jail 2 from being on the album".

One fan commented: "Damn you just saying this I done played da album 15 times already"

"The album is fire tho," another penned.

While one simply commented: "Yikes".

Kanye's album caused controversy before it was even released.

He pushed the release back multiple times and even moved into a makeshift bedroom in an Atlanta stadium to work on it.

The 44-year-old, who is in the midst of a divorce from Kim - the mum of his four kids, also shocked fans by bringing DaBaby and Marilyn Manson out on stage with him at one of his listening parties.

Some fans said they were saddened that Kanye chose to include DaBaby on his track Jail following his homophobic outburst a few weeks ago.

The 29-year-old joined Kanye on stage in Chicago to perform a guest verse on the track, which originally featured Kanye's old friend Jay Z.

The release of the album later revealed that Jay Z was on the final cut of the song after all, not DaBaby.

Opinion over the album was particularly split over opening song Donda Chant, a 50-second track of a female voice repeatedly saying the name of the rapper's late mum.

One fan criticised: "Donda Chant is the worst opening to a Kanye West album. Straight up trash"

While another asked: "Kanye west..wtf is Donda chant?"

And a third wrote: "that donda chant almost made me turn the s*** off before it started just so you know.. ima listen tho."

Not everyone felt that way though.

One admirer posted: "Donda Chant slaps was well worth the wait."

Kanye's accusation against Universal is one of just two posts on Kanye's Instagram account.

The other is an image of Kim standing on stage in a wedding dress, with a veil covering her head.

The Mirror has contacted Universal for comment.
