Reece James, Mason Mount and Christian Pulisic - Chelsea injury news after Man City defeat

Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the season in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon, with Manchester City taking all three points away from Stamford Bridge.

Gabriel Jesus' second-half strike was enough for the reigning champions to achieve maximum points against the Blues, moving Thomas Tuchel's team down to third place.

It was a frustrating 90 minutes for Chelsea, who have been so impressive recently, with Tuchel's players struggling to get going in west London.

The Blues were missing some key stars for the clash, which certainly did not help, and with that being said, football.london takes a close look at the latest injury news from Stamford Bridge.

Reece James

James was brought off in the first-half for Thiago Silva after hurting his ankle while in action.

Tuchel confirmed that the Chelsea right-back had twisted his ankle in the game and was unable to offer too much in the way of detail about the injury.

"I don't know about Reece at the moment," Tuchel said in his post-match press conference on Saturday afternoon.

"He twisted his ankle, and it was very painful for him. I have no other news on him at this stage but let's see how he is in the next few days."

Christian Pulisic

Pulisic missed Saturday's loss to Man City and has been sidelined since the most recent international break, where he picked up a knock when with the USA squad.

The former Borussia Dortmund winger has featured just once for Chelsea this season having recovered from Covid-19 just before the international break.

Tuchel was unable to reveal when the American would make his return when speaking to the media last week.

Mason Mount

Mount, like Pulisic, was sidelined for the defeat to Man City and Tuchel will be desperate to get the midfielder back onto the pitch sooner rather than later.

The Blues star picked up a "minor injury", according to Tuchel, in last week's Carabao Cup victory over Aston Villa.

"He has a minor injury from the Aston Villa game and while he made a big step, huge progress, it's not enough to be ready for 12.30 tomorrow. Everyone else is in training and we'll see tomorrow."
