Chelsea’s injury woes appear to be easing at the perfect time, with the Blues set to contest an extremely hectic festive period.
Their next assignment is a clash with Everton at Stamford Bridge on Thursday and Thomas Tuchel will be hopeful of securing another victory having been successful against Leeds United last time out.
Whilst the Toffees are struggling under former Blues boss Rafa Benitez, it will certainly be a tricky evening for Chelsea as they aim to chalk-up back-to-back wins.
With that being said, football.london takes a look at the latest team news coming out of Stamford Bridge ahead of the game.
Mateo Kovacic
Despite previously believing that the Croatian midfielder could be back in action, Kovacic is still not able to be called upon having recently recovered from Covid.
He has not made a Premier League appearance since the 7-0 thumping of Norwich City back in October.
What Tuchel has said: “So it's Mateo Kovacic and Ben Chilwell out at the moment."
Expected return date: Wolverhampton Wanderers (A) - Sunday, December 19.
N’Golo Kante
Whilst it is unlikely that Kovacic will appear in the Blues’ showdown with Everton, one man who is almost certain to return to the squad is World Cup winner N’Golo Kante.
The Frenchman has missed the last four Premier League games but Tuchel has confirmed that he has returned to training and will be on the bench against Everton on Thursday.
What Tuchel has said: "N'Golo [Kante] will be back on the bench tomorrow; he did the last two training sessions.”
Expected return date: Everton (H) - Thursday, December 16.
Trevoh Chalobah
Like Kante, Chalobah has been left on the sidelines for the past few weeks with a troublesome injury but looks set to return to contention sooner rather than later.
He is also back in training and Tuchel has already highlighted his role in the Chelsea side.
What Tuchel has said: "Trevoh Chalobah will also be back in the squad as did the last two training sessions as well.
Expected return date: Everton (H) - Thursday, December 16.
Ben Chilwell
Chilwell looks set to be out for some time yet with the knee injury suffered in the Champions League victory against Juventus.
The defender won’t likely be seen until after the New Year as he continues his recovery, albeit having returned to the grass over the past few days.
