All You Really Need To Know About Kansas (25-9)
(Big 12), NCAA NET Rank: 20. Midwest 4-seed
There’s controversy, inconsistency, and worst of all, an end to the amazing run of Big 12 championships. It’s a good team that managed to win five of its last six games before getting dominated by Iowa State in the Big Ten Tournament, and now it has to flip the switch.
There are too many mistakes and turnovers, too few three pointers, and way too many inconsistent moments and defensive lapses. But the Jayhawks will hit the boards hard with great size and athleticism. The young talents have to rise up to help out Dedric Lawson.
All You Really Need To Know About Northeastern (23-10)
(Colonial Athletic Association), NCAA NET Rank: 78. Midwest 13-seed
There are a whole lot of flaws and concerns, but they know how to win. The Huskies ripped off 12 wins in its final 13 games – and have only lost twice since early January – including a victory over regular season champ Hofstra in the CAA title game.
It’s a guard-oriented attack that bombs away from the outside and has a whole lot of options to play around with. The O will fire away, and keep firing, and keep firing some more, but there’s no rebounding whatsoever, no consistent inside presence, and the defense is a rumor. But if the outside shooting is on, look out.

What’s Going To Happen
Kansas … WAKE UP.
The Jayhawks aren’t bad, but they have a strange way of not showing up and going into a funk. Even so, with time to prepare, they’ll be good enough to slow down the Huskies from the outside, and they’re going to get every rebound.
Northeastern will be annoying with the threes leading to some big runs, but Kansas will erase the boards on every miss. The Huskies won’t get many, if any, second chance points.
