LAWRENCE, Kan. _ Nebraska of the Big Ten on Saturday afternoon had about the same luck against Kansas as the Cornhuskers of the Big Eight and Big 12.
The Jayhawks, who last played Nebraska in 2011 before the Huskers' switching of leagues, won 89-72 for their 18th straight victory overall against their former conference partners and 27th in 28 games. It was KU's 13th straight win over Nebraska at Allen Fieldhouse.
It marked a milestone victory _ KU's 750th in Allen Fieldhouse history against 109 losses. It also was KU's 46th straight win in the building that was dedicated in 1955.
Senior forward Landen Lucas scored a season-high 12 points and tied a season-high with seven rebounds for KU (9-1). He played 19 minutes on a day in which sophomore forward Carlton Bragg missed the game after Friday's arrest on misdemeanor battery charges.
Bragg attended the game and sat on the bench in street clothes.
Frank Mason scored 18 points, Josh Jackson had 17, Svi Mykhailiuk scored 15 and Devonte Graham added 14. KU, which entered the game with an 87.8 scoring average, rolled to a 54-34 halftime lead.
Lucas, who entered at 17:54 after starting forward Udoka Azubuike picked up his first foul, scored six early points as KU led 16-10. The Jayhawks led 23-18 at 15:00, then embarked on a run of 9-2 that extended to 20-8 and 28-11, giving KU a 51-29 advantage.
Mykhailiuk had 11 points in the 25-11 surge, while Mason had six and Graham four.
KU had a 23-point lead (59-36) early in the second half, but Nebraska reduced the margin to 68-54 at 11:15. With KU up 68-50, Mykhailiuk tossed the ball off the backboard to a trailing Jackson who missed the dunk. The Huskers never cut the second-half deficit to single figures.
KU, which has entered finals week, will next meet Davidson at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Sprint Center. Davidson (5-3) lost to North Carolina 83-74 on Wednesday in Chapel Hill, N.C. Davidson does not play again until Saturday in KC.
Davidson defeated KU, 80-74, on Dec. 19, 2011, at the Sprint Center. The Jayhawks beat Davidson 59-57 in the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight in Detroit.
