KANPUR: Additional district and sessions judge Kanpur Nagar Parmeshwar Prasad on Tuesday sentenced accused Pappy to life imprisonment with a fine of Rs 25,000 committing robbery and murder.
The court in its order observed that if accused failed to pay the fine then he would have to undergo another two years jail term.
Earlier on the quantum of sentence, the defence counsel pleaded that there was no direct evidence against the accused. He has small kids and an old mother and there was no one to look after them, hence he should be awarded a minimum sentence.
