Kanpur: Lekhpal suspended for approving file of violence accused

KANPUR: A lekhpal was suspended for allegedly approving the mutation file of the five-storey building in Chakeri owned by Abdul Rehman, son of builder Haji Wasi, the alleged conspirator of June 3 Parade-Nai Sadak violence.

On the instructions of the ADM (Finance and Revenue), SDM Ghatampur Amit Omar suspended lekhpal Ajay Kushwaha. A notice will be issued to him and an explanation will also be sought. Ajay Kushwaha was posted as a lekhpal at Itara in Ghatampur tehsil of the district.

As per official sources, during his posting in Sadar tehsil, Ajay had approved mutation of a five-storey building located in Chakeri owned by Abdul Rehman, son of builder Haji Wasi, one of the alleged conspirator of June 3 Parade-Nai Sadak violence. After investigation it came to fore that the properties related to him also included a five-storey building at Chakeri built by Wasi's son Abdul Rehman, the sources further said.

“The investigation revealed that a part of the property is on the government land but despite that the lekhpal had approved the mutation of the said property on July 12. “The tehsil was asked to submit its report to the ADM (Finance and Revenue). Following t report, the lekhpal was placed under suspension”, said SDM Ghatampur Amit Omar. Builder Wasi and his son Abdul Rehman are in jail.
