LUCKNOW: The UP government late on Friday evening formally sent its recommendation for a CBI probe into the death of Kanpur businessman during a police verification at a Gorakhpur hotel three days ago. Victim Manish Gupta's widow had requested Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for the CBI probe when he met the family in Kanpur on Thursday.
A government spokesperson said on Friday that till the time the CBI takes over a special team of Kanpur police would probe the case. The government also raised the ex gratia amount to be given to the family to Rs 40 lakh.
