A Kankakee man died Saturday when a car he was riding in crashed into a tree in west suburban Aurora.

Gus Bester Jr., 32, was in a 1987 Buick sedan traveling east on Sherman Avenue about 3 p.m. when the vehicle veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree near Sherman and Pearl Street, Aurora police said.

Bester was pinned inside the vehicle and had to be extricated, police said. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver, a 29-year-old Aurora man, was hospitalized, but was stabilized and expected to survive, police said.

Aurora police did not immediately say whether the driver would face any charges or citations.
