Kangaroo on the loose in Tyrone as public warned not to approach it

A kangaroo is on the loose in Co Tyrone after it escaped an enclosure on Sunday.

Two wallabies arrived at the Glenpark Estate over the weekend, but one of them managed to escape after it became startled.

It was last seen making off in the direction of Omagh on the main Gortin Road on Sunday evening, Belfast Live reports.

Glenpark Estate owner Richard Beattie has issued an appeal for anyone who may come across the kangaroo to get in touch with him.

He said: “Two wee wallaby kangaroos came yesterday, they came about 3pm and we put them into the enclosure.

“One of them jumped over the enclosure and the last time it was seen was a quarter of a mile down the road from the estate. We’re still looking for it now.

“It happened in the middle of our Sunday carvery serving so it was all very busy. I got a call from the groundsman to say he was away.

“Hopefully we will be able to find him. He went in the direction of Omagh.”

There have been no further sightings of the animal on Monday, and the estate owner added it was best not to approach it if seen.

“There have been no further sightings of it today. We are hoping to get the word out so somebody might come across it.

“It’s just a matter of where and when. We have a good enclosure here but something must have just startled them," he said.
