Kane, Son and the three Spurs players who must start the Champions League final v Liverpool

Harry Kane must start the Champions League final against Liverpool, according to Tottenham Hotspur legend Darren Anderton.

The England international has been out of action since the start of April after injuring his ankle in the Champions League quarter-final first-leg win over Man City at the new Tottenham stadium.

But Mauricio Pochettino delivered a promising update on his star striker in an interview with talkSPORT , stating Kane is close to training with the squad and is hopeful of having him available to face the Reds.

If that's the case then the Spurs boss could have a selection headache on his hands given that Lucas Moura is the main reason as to why they have a chance of winning the trophy following his hat-trick against Ajax in the last round.

However, Anderton has come up with a solution and that's by naming a bold starting XI which accommodates both Lucas and Kane as well as the likes of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and Son Heung-min.

"It was Lucas Moura’s Semi-Final heroics that got Spurs to the final and I do think he’ll start the final with Dele Alli playing deeper,"  Anderton told Sporting Bet.

"Kane needs to start, Son has been a revelation this season, and Eriksen is the one, for me, who really makes everything tick for Spurs in terms of creating chances.

"I think Dele could play a deeper role, some will argue that in doing so, you don’t get the best out of him and it could leave Tottenham quite exposed to Liverpool’s incredible front three.

"Ultimately, it is the front players on both teams that will make the difference, the attacking players on each team have the individual ability that can win the game and I think Tottenham just about edge Liverpool in that department."
