Kane reveals the secret behind Son partnership
Tottenham striker Harry Kane has lifted the lid on his brilliant partnership with Son Heung-min.
The pair have netted 15 goals between them this season, alongside an impressive 10 assists, with Jose Mourinho’s side move up to second in the table.
Kane believes his link up with Son has been vital for Spurs and credited their experience of working together as the basis for their on-field chemistry.
"Year by year, the more you play with someone the more you get to know someone, [it's about] understanding your games a little bit better," the England captain said in an interview with the club website.
"We've had a great relationship over the years, but this season has clicked a little bit more and think [it's down to] probably both just being a bit more clinical in the final third whether it's the final pass or the final finish.
"When someone is on good form you just try and find them the ball and you end up scoring goals. It might be little deflections or going through the keeper's legs or things like that.
"We're riding that wave at the moment but it's not just me and Sonny, we've got a great team unit at the minute with great togetherness, and we're going to need that for the rest of the season if we want to keep staying as high up as we are in the table."
Son plays down leading man tag
Son has modestly rejected the suggestion he is one of the best players in the Premier League.
The South Korean has been in excellent form this term, with eight Premier League goals putting him joint top of the goal scoring charts so far in 2020/21.
However, despite his excellent start to the campaign, Son believes he still has a long way to go to be classed as one of the leading lights in the English top-flight.
"I've never once thought I am among the best players in the Premier League," Son told an interview with the Korea Football Association (KFA) YouTube channel.
"Honestly, I’ve never thought that for a moment. I have always tried to do my best for Tottenham and in the national team and try to show all my abilities.”
Son also claimed he was not at the level of Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne and Liverpool striker Mo Salah.
Zouma form shows Spurs what might have been
Jose Mourinho was strongly linked with a host of centre-back targets ahead of the 2020/21 season before eventually securing a last-minute deal for Joe Rodon from Swansea City.
Among the list of reported names on Mourinho’s radar was his former Chelsea player Kurt Zouma, with the French international linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.
Frank Lampard resisted transfer interest in the 26-year old with Zouma a regular fixture in his plans this season seven starts from eight Premier League games so far.
Reports from L’Equipe claim Tottenham’s unwillingness to meet Chelsea £40 million asking blocked the deal and Zouma’s impressive form may be leaving Mourinho thinking he missed a trick.
Zouma’s ability to intercept passes and break up opposition attacking rhythm has been particularly eye-catching,
He averaged 2.2 interceptions per 90 minutes in the Premier League last season, which was the seventh-highest among players with at least 2,000 minutes under their belts.
