Son, Lamela, Lucas Moura: Tottenham team news and injury updates ahead of Aston Villa clash

Tottenham Hotspur will be going in search of putting a nightmare week behind them when they face Aston Villa this evening.

Ahead of last weekend's north London derby defeat, Spurs were on a fine run of form that included five straight wins across all competitions.

And despite taking the lead against Arsenal with Erik Lamela's brilliant strike, Tottenham Hotspur could not hold on for all three points thanks to goals from Martin Odegaard and Alexandre Lacazette.

With that said, things got worse on Thursday night as Jose Mourinho's side crashed out of the Europa League at the last-16 stage as they let a 2-0 first-leg lead slip against Dinamo Zagreb.

Jose Mourinho's angry response to being asked if Tottenham lack leaders

What is for sure is that Mourinho will be demanding an immediate response from his side at Villa Park as victory will see them move to within three points of the final Champions League spot.

Whilst some changes are a certainty, Mourinho does have one injury to contend with, but he does have a near full-strength squad to choose from.

Here is a round-up of all the very latest on the Spurs injury front.

Son Heung-min

Tottenham's South Korean attacker was substituted in the first-half of the derby after picking up a hamstring injury and Mourinho confirmed that would not be involved in the Europa League tie.

"I don't know, I don't know, but of course no chance for this one," said Mourinho in his pre-match press conference when asked when Son would be back.

Son will not be available for the Villa match but football.london understands that the injury is not as bad as first feared and Son may not face a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Erik Lamela

The Argentine is suspended after being sent-off against Arsenal.

Because Lamela was shown two yellow cards it means he will serve a one-match suspension which rules him out of the trip to Villa Park.

Elsewhere, Serge Aurier, Ben Davies, Lucas Moura, Dele Alli, and Harry Winks were all substituted in the 3-0 loss against Zagreb, but those were for tactical reasons.
