LONDON: Harry Kane's seventh goal in seven north London derbies gave Tottenham Hotspur a 1-0 victory over Arsenal in front of a record Premier League crowd of 83,222 at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

After missing a good chance in a tense first half, Kane put the home side ahead when he rose to head Ben Davies' 49th-minute cross back across the goal and into the bottom corner.

The hosts had plenty of chances to add to their lead but Kane put a free header wide and had a fierce shot saved by Petr Cech while the Arsenal goalkeeper also denied Christian Eriksen, Kieran Trippier and Erik Lamela.

For Arsenal, Jack Wilshere's curling effort was saved by Hugo Lloris while substitute Alexandre Lacazette put a late chance just wide.

The win lifts Spurs into third place, a point ahead of Liverpool and two ahead of Chelsea. Liverpool are at Southampton on Sunday and Chelsea are at home to West Brom on Monday. Arsenal remain sixth on 45 points, six points off the top four.
