Kanchi Singh: Quitting a TV show for a film was a risk that I took

Kanchi Singh became a household name with the TV show Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, which she quit in 2017. The pandemic delayed things, but now it’s all falling into place and Kanchi is looking forward to her Bollywood debut.

She says, “I am excited about my Bollywood debut. I have been working hard for that. The film shoot will take place in Canada. I will star opposite actor Adhyayan Suman. I have also done an OTT show and I think this is a great phase for actors with different mediums opening up.”

But the journey hasn’t been easy, she shares. “Quitting Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata hai for films was a risk that I took. It was tough, I faced rejections but I was determined to pursue it. Now that I have finally got it, I feel relieved and happy. My parents have supported me through it all.”

On the personal front, Kanchi is single and wants to focus only on work right now. Ask her about actor Rohan Mehra, who she was dating a few years ago, and she says, “I don’t want to talk about it. I have moved on since then even though it wasn’t easy. I am happy for him and his life. But there’s nothing more to say.”

So is she open to getting into a relationship now? “I want to be single for now. I am not interested in relationships. Now I will directly declare my marriage whenever that has to happen in the future,” concludes Kanchi.
